Assignments Overview
Learn how to get started with assignments
Assignments are how learners connect with content. One assignment can go out to any number of learners and can include any number of learning activities, and they allow you to organize and track learner activities at an aggregate level (for instance, annual compliance training or pre-matriculation courses for incoming classes).
What You’ll Need
Before creating assignments, it is recommended to have all the necessary components already set up so you can quickly apply them to the assignment. You will need the following items prepared in advance of creating an assignment:
- Training Periods
- Custom Categories
- Communications
Assignment Types
On Foundry, there are two different types of assignments administrators can create for learners: Quick Assignments and Automated Assignments.
The main difference between these two assignment types is how your learners will get sent the courses– Quick Assignments require you to specify the learners, whereas in Automated Assignments our system will automatically select the learners based on criteria that you define.
Quick Assignments
Quick Assignments require you to specify a list of learners and they will all be assigned training on the same day with the same due date
Automated Assignments
Automated Assignments are assigned on a rolling basis based on learner criteria rather than a specific list of learners
Note: For courses that have a Part 2, there is no need to assign Part 2 as a separate assignment. Assigning the full course has both Part 1 and Part 2 included.
