Course Description

This course describes bloodborne pathogens, how they are transmitted, practices that minimize the risk of exposure, what to do if there is an exposure incident, and how to handle and dispose of contaminated items for employees who might have occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious material.

The content of this course is built to help companies comply with U.S. federal and state standards, and is an important element of fulfilling bloodborne pathogens training mandates under federal and California laws.

This module introduces at a high level the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard and its importance in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Module 2: Understanding Bloodborne Pathogens
This module defines bloodborne pathogens and several modes of transmission. It introduces the necessary next steps to take if an employee becomes exposed in order to manage the situation in a safe way.

Module 3: Understanding the Exposure Control Plan
This module explores specific methods and precautions to take to avoid exposure to bloodborne pathogens. The learner will understand how to use an exposure control plan, identify labels and signage, and explore how personal protective equipment can keep them safe. They will also apply these lessons through a variety of interactive scenarios to check their knowledge.

Module 4: Mitigating Exposure Risks
This module highlights how to respond to exposure in an appropriate and safe way. The learner will apply these response methods through interactive scenarios to check their knowledge.

Module 5: Applying What You've Learned
This module provides a brief high-level review of the course content. It also provides the customer with configurable pages to insert their specific policies and messaging should they choose to do so.
