Getting Started on Foundry
Use this guide to get started on Foundry.
This guide will walk you through the steps needed to launch your training on Foundry for the first time. In addition to following this list, we recommend sharing the IT Checklist with your organization’s IT team and IT Allowlist in order to prepare your system for implementation.
Platform Integrations
If you licensed a technical Integration, there may be some additional or different steps to take. We recommend getting this process started as soon as possible to leave plenty of room to bring in the appropriate IT experts and test before launching.
1. Configure Your Account
Create Your Locations
You may have one or more locations preloaded into your account when it was created. Locations are physical addresses that are used to display the relevant legal statutes to learners if the course has state/jurisdiction legal statutes in it.
Locations can also be used to target assignments, specify policies and resources, and filter reports.
Add Custom Categories
In addition to locations, Custom Categories provide an additional option to organize your learners and data. When thinking about your set-up, consider what courses you want to assign to which segment of your learner population and when. A few common examples are departments, year hired, matriculation year, and employee type.
We recommend setting up these classifications before uploading users to your Foundry account. If you are unsure what to use, you can consult your Account Manager for best practices.
2. Add Your Users
Users must be uploaded before administrators can assign training to them. Additional administrators and learners can be added or updated individually or through a batch upload process using EVERFI’s upload template. If you created any Custom Categories, you attach the Custom Labels to learners upon initial upload.
3. Customize Your Courses
EVERFI courses allow for the customization of multiple elements to align the content with your organization’s branding and messaging. Note that configuration options vary by course, but we recommend at least adding in your policies and resources.
4. Plan Your Communication Strategy
Foundry sends automatic messages to learners at the start of an assignment and scheduled reminders until completion. Administrators have the option to customize what those messages say and the reminder cadence per assignment.
5. Test, Test, Test
Before assigning training to learners, we recommend creating a test assignment for yourself using the same settings you will use for your real assignment. After receiving your invitation, access the course, and make some progress so you are familiar with the learner experience. Once you are done testing, deactivate the assignment to clear it from your dashboard.
6. Ready to Launch!
For each assignment, you will determine the type of assignment to use, the course(s), which learners to include, the invitation and reminder messages, and a start and due date. After the assignment start date, you can begin tracking progress on the assignment page or with more-in depth reports.
SCORM Integration Quick Start Guide
This section will walk through the 4 step process to set-up your SCORM Dispatch Integration on the Foundry Platform.
1. Foundry Account Configuration
Create Your Locations
Locations are physical addresses that are used to display the relevant legal statutes to learners if the course has state/jurisdiction legal statutes in it. There may also be different content packages of a course based on this information. Locations can also be used to target assignments, specify policies and resources, and filter reports.
Configure Your Courses
EVERFI courses allow for the customization options of multiple elements to align the content with your organization’s branding and messaging. Note that configuration options vary by course, but we recommend at least adding in your policies and resources.
2. Create and Download Your SCORM Package
If you are a SCORM Admin, you will now be able to create and download your own SCORM file(s). This allows for content on-demand, and more flexibility.
- Not a SCORM Administrator? Follow the instructions below to obtain your SCORM Packages
- Upload the SCORM Test Packages
- To ensure that you receive the correct file format for the SCORM content packages, we will need to know if your LMS/HRIS is compatible with 1.2 or 2004 3rd edition.
- Upload the SCORM Test Packages
3. Ready to Launch!
After you upload all the EVERFI content packages to your LMS/HRIS, you are ready to create assignments! Moving forward after this initial set-up, all management of assignments and learners will be done from your own LMS/HRIS.
